Here are some of my favorite resources for those of you who are pregnant or have families in Japan:

Tokyo Pregnancy Group: An English speaking group for women who are pregnant or trying to conceive in and around Tokyo. TPG invites guest speakers to meetings once or twice per month to speak on a variety of topics related to pregnancy creating an invaluable support group both in person and online.

Tokyo Mothers Group: An extension of TPG, Tokyo Mothers Group is a support group for families in Tokyo. TMG is a great place to start looking for playgroups, meet ups, and support on raising children in Tokyo.

Tokyo Doula Support: Both TPG and TMG were started and continue to be maintained by Stephanie Kawai, a mother to three boys (all birthed in Japan) and a leading doula here in Tokyo. Her website features information about her and her services as well as birth stories.

My Body My Pilates: A pilates studio in Minami Azabu run by Helen Zheng. She teaches various pilates classes in English, including prenatal and postnatal pilates. I’ve been going there during my pregnancy and highly recommend her classes to improve your stability and prepare for birth!

Tokyo Urban Baby: A valuable blog featuring a variety of articles on everything from traveling in Japan with kids to tips on buying diapers and wipes in Japan.

Best Living Japan: A popular blog that covers many topics including travel, food, and raising children in Japan. They have some informative articles on baby products and pregnancy in Japan that are worth checking out.
